Al Ahly’s negotiations with Danish-Palestinian forward Wessam Abou Ali are reportedly in its final stages after the player put pressure on the Swedish club to accept the deal.
African champions Al Ahly are reportedly closing on the signing of Danish-Palestinian forward Wessam Abou Ali from Swedish outfit IK Sirius.
Al Ahly are very keen on signing Abou Ali due to the player’s Palestinian descent, which would allow him to be registered as a domestic player, as per the registration rules in Egypt.
However, IK Sirius’ sporting director Jonathan Ederström has refused to confirm the news but insisted that the player has attracted a lot of interest from several clubs.
Renowned journalist and Al Ahly legend Ahmed Shobier has now revealed that the Reds are putting the final touches on the deal as the player is keen on the move as well.
“Al Ahly is putting the finishing touches on the signing of Palestinian striker Wessam Abou Ali,” Shobeir said.
“The player is exerting pressure on his current club to finalize negotiations and move to Al Ahly. The announcement will be made swiftly,” he added.
Wessam Abou Ali, 24, has a contract with IK Sirius until December 2027 and it’s expected Al Ahly will need to pay between $1.6 to 2 million dollars if they want to land his signature this winter.
