In an action-packed game, Wydad Casablanca emerged victorious in the first leg of their African Football League final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The home side were the ones who struck first, taking the lead two minutes before half-time, thanks to an own goal by Rivaldo Coetzee.
The South Africans – who reached the final by knocking out Al Ahly – made it one all in the 75th minute however, with former FAR Rabat man Abdelmonaim Boutouil scoring from the spot.
The joy was short-lived, though, as Anas Serrhat scored the winning goal for Wydad three minutes after the restart, sending Stade Muhammad V into ruptures.
The return leg is due to be played on Sunday the 12th of November in Pretoria.
