Al Ahly shared the spoils with CR Belouizdad on Friday evening, as they played out their second consecutive draw in the CAF Champions League group stages.
The Red Devils started off their defence of the CAF Champions League by defeating Ghanaian side Medeama 3-0 at Al Salam Stadium, before being halted to a 1-1 draw against Tanzanian giants Young Africans.
Unlike the game in Tanzania, Marcel Koller’s men didn’t manage to find the net, but came agonisingly close on a couple of occasions especially in the first half, with the biggest of them coming when Rais M’Bolhi parried away Hussein El Shahat’s shot from close range, before the CRB defence successfully blocked Mahmoud Kahraba on the rebound.
In the second half, Al Ahly once again came close through El Shahat, when his lofting header hit the bar; however, the Red Devils found themselves lucky not to go behind soon after when the Algerian giants hit the bar.
Despite the draw, Al Ahly remain top of Group D with five points from three games. They are due to play the return fixture on the 19th of December.
