England international Jordan Henderson have reached an agreement with Ettifaq FC to terminate his contract and quit the Saudi Pro League.
Jordan Henderson is reportedly unhappy in Saudi Arabia and wants to terminate his lucrative three-year contract, just six months after joining Ettifaq.
Dutch giants Ajax are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing the former Liverpool man, who is said to be open to a return to Europe, with his place at Euro 2024 with England under threat.
While Ettifaq confirmed they received no offer for Henderson and that the player will stay put until the end of his contract, it looks like the former Liverpool captain managed to convince them otherwise as he is now set to leave their training camp in Abu Dhabi and return to England.
The news has been confirmed by the Athletic, who revealed that no transfer fee will be involved in Henderson’s exit from the Saudi club.
Moreover, Henderson is now set to sign with Ajax, having agreed a switch in principle, to become the club’s first winter signing.
Henderson had joined Ettifaq in a €14m deal after 12 years at Liverpool and since then made 19 appearances in Saudi Arabia this season, assisting five times.
