Saudi giants Al-Hilal have completed the signing of Brazil international Renan Lodi from Olympique Marseille.
The deal has cost the Saudis €23 million, which takes the club’s net spend this season to €376 million following deals for Neymar, Rúben Neves, and Aleksandar Mitrovic to name a few.
Lodi has now signed a three-year deal that will keep him at the club until July 2027 and will be registered in the club’s squad instead of Neymar, who is sidelined until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old joins Al-Hilal after just six months with Marseille, having joined them from Atlético Madrid last summer. Lodi also spent last season out on loan at Nottingham Forest and helped them survive relegation.
On the international level, Lodi has 19 caps to his name and represented Brazil in the 2021 Copa America, leading his country to the final, where they lost to arch-rivals Argentina.
Al-Hilal currently sit top of the Saudi Pro League with 53 points, seven ahead of Al-Nassr, and has also made it through to the semi-finals of the King Cup and the knockout rounds of the AFC Champions League.
