Portuguese manager José Gomes is set to arrive in Cairo in the upcoming few hours to take over Cairo giants Zamalek.
The Whites have been without a manager since the departure of Juan Carlos Osorio last November, with Motamed Gamal leading the team on a temporary basis since then.
It was revealed earlier that the club’s board decided to go for the trusted Portuguese coaching school, having reached an agreement with José Gomes to take over the team.
And Gomes is now expected to arrive in Cairo very shortly to sign the contract and lead the team starting from next week.
According to several reports, Gomes will sign a one-and-a-half-year contract and his first game in charge will come against arch-rivals Al Ahly in the Cairo derby.

The 53-year-old was most recently in charge of Chaves but was sacked after just 2 months in charge, having lost all six games the team played this season.
Last season, Gomes took over Marítimo halfway through the season, but couldn’t save the club from going down, winning just six games out of 23 and losing 14.
Before this, Gomes had spells with Spanish clubs Ponferradina and UD Almería, English club Reading FC, as well as several Portuguese clubs, including Rio Ave, Aves, Leixões, and Paços Ferreira.
José Gomes also has experience in the Middle East, taking over Saudi clubs Al Ahli Jeddah, Al-Taawoun, and UAE’s FC Baniyas.
He also served as an assistant manager to Zamalek’s fan-favorite Jesualdo Ferreira for more than 200 games at FC Porto, Málaga CF, and Panathinaikos.
