Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believes Mohamed Salah will 100% leave Anfield this summer as the Saudi Pro League clubs continue to pursue him.
Salah’s contract at Anfield runs until the summer of 2025 and with Jurgen Klopp set to leave his role at the end of the season, speculation is mounting that the Egyptian will move out too.
Liverpool icon Lawrenson has backed the 31-year-old, who signed a new deal in 2022, to end his lengthy spell with the Merseyside outfit and predicted he will join a Saudi Pro League team next.
Speaking to Paddy Power, Lawrenson said: “100 percent Mo Salah will definitely leave this summer. No matter what happens this season. I think there was a deal last summer.
“He’ll go and play somewhere like Saudi Arabia and hopefully, Liverpool get a massive fee and get a couple of players off the back of it. Salah will be a king in Saudi!”
Indeed, the Reds rejected a mammoth £150m offer for Salah’s services over the summer when Saudi Arabia side Ittihad Jeddah came calling. With money no object and with Salah seen as the world’s best Muslim footballer, their interest has not faded and they are seemingly preparing a new bid for his services this summer.

Salah became a club legend in just six years with the club as he formed one of the best-attacking trios of all time with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, both are playing in the Saudi Pro League now and helped the Reds win their first PL title since 1990 and UEFA Champions League since 2005.
“The lads who have come in [in Salah’s absence] know that they’re fighting for their position which is great, as long as a couple of them don’t get injured,” added Lawrenson.
“You can see that Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz like playing with each other and they all scored a goal against Burnley, even Nunez!
“When Mohamed Salah goes, and I think he will go, Liverpool might go and get a few more players for those positions.”
Ittihad Jeddah are not alone in their admiration for Salah, however, with PSG also tipped to enter the race for the star as they bid to replace their own talismanic forward, Kylian Mbappe.
