CR Belouizdad head coach Marcos Paquetá commented on his team’s performance against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.
Both sides played out a goalless draw in Friday’s encounter at the 5 July 1962 Stadium in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stages.
Despite creating a number of chances, Belouizdad were unable to find the back of the net with Houcine Benayada hitting the woodwork from a free-kick in the second half.
During the press conference, Paquetá stated: “It was a good game, and our team’s performance was good collectively and individually. I was pleased with what the players showed, and I thank the fans for their support.
“The rainfall affected us, which posed a challenge for the players, but during that time, we created many opportunities that we didn’t capitalise on.
“Both teams played for the win, and we didn’t play for a draw against Al Ahly. Their substitutions forced us to bring on players ready to close down spaces,” he added.
With this result, Al Ahly lead Group D with six points, followed by Young Africans and CR Belouizdad with five each, while Medeama sit at the bottom with only four.
