Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi has downplayed any reported issues between Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
The EFA recently revealed that they were unable to reach Salah as they announced their squad for the upcoming international break.
Salah has been out of action for over three weeks and his last appearance for the Reds was in a 4-1 victory away at Brentford.
The 31-year-old has been recovering from injury since then and Liverpool had informed the EFA that he could miss Egypt’s games to continue his rehabilitation program according to the latter.
Despite that, technical director Ibrahim Hassan insisted that only the national team coaching staff has a say in who plays and who doesn’t while stating they will ensure every player’s safety.
“There is no issue between Salah and the national team because Hossam Hassan [head coach] and Ibrahim already spoke to the players called up,” Sobhi said.
“We are closely monitoring Salah and his condition. He underwent a rehabilitation program, played for some time, and then got injured again.
“The EFA held talks with him to check on his condition because the national team have a long road ahead with 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup coming up.”
