Egyptian club Pyramids FC faced a major crisis while in the DR Congo, as they prepared to face their host TP Mazembe in the group stage of the 2024 CAF Champions League.
Pyramids FC’s delegation arrived in Lubumbashi city on Wednesday evening after a seven-and-a-half-hour flight from Cairo.
The Egyptian outfit will face TP Mazembe at 4:00 PM next Saturday, in Lubumbashi city, as part of the fifth-round matches of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Upon the Pyramids team’s arrival in Lubumbashi, the bus driver, provided by Mazembe Club for their mission, caused damage to the team’s cars, smashing and breaking them.
Officials from Pyramids’ delegation pointed out that all team members are well, and there are no problems resulting from this incident that could impact the seriousness and focus of the players for the upcoming match, according to the statement.
TP Mazembe shares the lead with Mamelodi Sundowns with 7 points each, while Pyramids is tied with Nouadhibou with 4 points each.
